ARTFLUNG is a not-for-profit art gallery that provides a
curated online space where works by new, emerging and established artists
can be exhibited to as wide an audience as possible.

The gallery was created in 2008 by me and my friend Tim Pilkington and is
run on a voluntary basis. It makes no profit, contains no advertising and
does not charge any fees or commission. We do it because we are passionate
about art and the opportunities presented by new technology.

We are always looking for new artists to exhibit, so if you like what we're
up to and would like to show your work with us, please visit the site and
tell others.

Ways of Looking 2013: Call for proposals

Deadline
Thu, May 17, 2012

The second edition of photography festival Ways of Looking will be held in venues throughout Bradford’s city centre for the month of October 2013. The theme is BEAUTY.

The first edition of the festival was a huge success, with almost 50,000 exhibition visitors. The Guardian praised its ‘rare curatorial intelligence’ and 93% visitors rated the festival ‘high quality and inspiring’. We want the next festival to be even better.

The festival producers (Impressions Gallery, The Culture Company, and National Media Museum) are now inviting calls for proposals for inclusion in the official festival programme.

We are looking for projects that engage with the idea of BEAUTY in surprising, challenging, thought-provoking, and entertaining ways.

Proposals can come from individuals or organisations, and may be an exhibition, an off-site project, or an event. You do not have to be based in Bradford, but your project must be suitable to take place in a city-centre venue.

At this stage we are just looking for initial proposals, including those at the development stage. You do not have to have made the work, or identified a venue. We will ask you to fill in a brief submission form outlining your idea, an indicative budget, and your intended audience. We are particularly interested in proposals that reflect the diversity of Bradford people.

If selected, your proposal will be part of the festival official programme and benefit from the festival’s extensive marketing and audience development campaign. There may also be potential to help you raise funding for your proposal, though this cannot be guaranteed. The deadline for submissions is 18 June 2012.

To find out more, we would like to invite you to a briefing at Impressions Gallery on Thursday 17 May at 12pm. We will explain more about the theme BEAUTY, the ethos of the festival, and the proposal submission process. You will also have a chance to ask us any questions you may have.

Please RSVP to info@waysoflooking.org with your name and organisation (if applicable). If you are not able to attend the event, please let us know and we will send you further information and a submission application form by email when they become available.

We look forward to seeing you.
